CLIMBING IN VAL D'AOSTA: ALBARD DI BARD - Monte Coudrey
|
DESCRIPTION. Bard (at 381m) lies in the narrowest section of the Dora valley in Valle d'Aosta. In year 1000 the prominent rock of Bard has been used to build a fortress on roman ruins.
From the medieval village of Bard (one of the quaintest in the valley) you can easily reach Albard and the hamlet of Hône (at the beginning of the valley of Champorcher).

GETTING THERE. Take the highway A5 Torino-Aosta, exit at Pont-Saint-Martin and drive towards Aosta on SS 26. Take the right fork just past the covered parking lot of Donnas, then follow the signs to Albard for a few kilometers. Skirt the front of a little church and continue down and then up to the end of the road (parking area).
To get to the routes "Olimpic Spirit", "T Rex" and "Via le dita del naso" follow the path starting from a boulder with "Dottor Jimmy" painted on it.
To reach the climbs above (for example the sector "Lawrence" with 7 single-pitch climbs ranging from 3c to 6a) enter the chestnut wood and take the first left fork.
