LA BAIARDA:
BASTIONE DEL GRAN DIEDRO - MIDDLE TIER

Spigolo Rosso (40 m - IV). Climb the arete (5 m III; 1 peg) and a slab (3 m IV). After a move on the right side, resume climbing the arete up to a ledge where there is a peg (6 m IV-). Climb on exposed but not extreme terrain (10 m III) up to a ring-peg. From here climb a slab diagonally right (5m. IV+) to the arete up to the anchor on a wide ledge (8m III).
Diedro Rosso (40 m - IV). This route starts on the left of Spigolo Rosso. Climb easily for a few meters and then a more awkward tract (10m IV) up to a ledge. Resume climbing with a stem move (IV), reaching the belay station (wood sign). From here you can:
a) climb the corner diagonally left with an exciting stem move (15 m III, III+) up to a big, overhanging block (belay station).
b) traverse right to reach the slab of Spigolo Rosso (IV).
You may also climb a route, rappel and climb up the other. From the upper belay station you can follow the thin path and reach the base of summit tower where you can see an impressive dihedral named Diedro Gozzini (Dihedral Gozzini). |
