CLIMBING GEAR: CORDS AND WEBBINGS
|
Cords are made of tubular polyamide webbing and are constructed as climbing ropes.
Cords are weaker than climbing roper having a diameter between 4 and 8 mm. Since rope is sold by the meter too, you might decide to make your own cordalettes. In this case you will have to tie them with a double fisherman's knot.

Webbing. As they are made of polyamide, slings require the same care as ropes and cords.
Webbing are generally looped to obtain rings. There are flat or tubolar webbing (Slings, stronger), already looped and sewn or sold by the meter and are available in different width.
If you decide to make your own webbing, you have to tie them with a water knot.
Slings are also used to connect two d-shaped 'biners to make a quickdraw. For this purpose sling lengths range from 10 cm to 25 cm.
