WE SPEAK ABOUT:
ROCK CLIMBING:

VALLONE DI BOURCET

Vallone di Bourcet is a sunken side-valley of Chisone Valley, beginning on the left side (upstream) from Roreto village.
Many walls of gneiss (up to 200 m high) on the right side of the valley offer several climbing routes, some of them starting right off the main road.

This climbing area was discovered in the early 70s by Angelo Gaido.
After several attempts, the first two routes ("Urlo della vecchia" and "Deltaplano") have been finally aid climbed.
Most of the routes have been first climbed by Fiorenzo Michelin and his climbing companions in the 80s and 90s; because of their features, these routes can be considered as alpine routes, in spite of low altitude.

You can climb here almost all year long, also in winter in sectors not covered with snow.
In summer it may be too warm, being at low altitude.

APPROACH. From Pinerolo drive on route SS 23 toward Sestriere to Roreto.
At the lastest zebra crossing turn left in a narrow road; cross over the bridge and park in a dirt lot on the right side or in the parking area a hundred meters on the left or in the village square.

Follow the wide trail to reach climbing sectors.
